Why Your Marketing Isn’t Working (And How to Fix It)

Most businesses never ask this MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION that actually matters.
“What’s in it for the buyer?”
And because of that, their marketing reads like a bad first date…where you go out with a girl (or guy) (or whatever you’re into),
and they are ALL narcissistic and all about themselves.
Things like
“We’re the best marketing agency in [insert city].”
“Our founder has 12 years of experience in agile frameworks.”
“We elevate brands using strategic innovation and human-first thinking.”
The biggest problem about messaging like the ones above is this.
Your prospect didn’t wake up thinking about you.
They don’t wake up thinking
“Today’s the day I finally hire an AI development agency!”
Or
“You know what I’m craving this morning? A high-integrity, scalable, creative branding solution.”
No.They’re most likely stressed, overworked, drowning in problems they can’t fix.
And then you hit them with a website headline that screams:
“Here’s everything about us.”
Of course they bounce. Of course they ghost you. Of course lead quality sucks.
Because the entire funnel is one giant monologue, and no one wants to hear a business talk about themselves all the time.
In this article, we’ll talk about how you can easily get leads without putting in a
metric ton of effort. Let’s go.
Why Most Businesses Struggle With Marketing
Imagine going to a doctor and instead of asking you how you feel,
He starts talking about where he went to medical college (or med school), how hard his exams were and what his vision is.
That’s what’s happening in most marketing examples we come across.
When your message speaks from your world instead of the buyer’s, you make it harder for someone in pain to trust you. You annoy interested buyers away.
And the worst part is
You’ll never hear it from them.
They won’t reply and say, “Hey, just letting you know, your headline didn’t speak to my pain.”
They’ll just leave.Silently.
And your business keeps bleeding while you sit there wondering what went
wrong.
Let me tell you what actually went wrong.
A prospect lands on your website.
Let’s say they’re a small founder, running their own operations and trying to scale…
They’ve JUST burned money on some random agency who ghosted them,
And then wasted hours trying to DIY the work themselves.
They’re not looking for a visionary partner, or shopping for a 5-step process, or
reading your mission statement like gospel.
They’re asking one question:
“Will this fix my problem, fast, without making me feel stupid or broke?”
That’s it.
But when your headline says something like,
“We’re a leading digital transformation consultancy with a passion for
innovation…”
They don’t know what that means. They don’t care. And you’ve lost them.
Now you might think: “Yeah but our portfolio speaks for itself…”
No it doesn’t. Not if they don’t stick around long enough to look.
And here’s the part nobody tells you because most people around you are
scared to help you. I’m not.
This gap doesn’t just affect your website.
It creeps into your ads. Your emails. ALL your landing pages and blogs.
Even your sales calls.
Every meeting becomes harder. Every lead feels colder.
Your sales take a hit and your CPL rises if you’re running ads..
And eventually, most businesses start telling themselves lies like
“Maybe our marketing isn’t strong enough.”. “Maybe we need better reach.”
“Maybe people just don’t get it.”
“Maybe it doesn't work in our industry”
But if you’re reading this, I’m sure you’re ready for the truth.
Truth is - People get it. THEY ALWAYS DO.
They just don’t see themselves “fit” in your business.
You’re screaming into the void, whilst someone else maybe not even half as good
Is making TONS OF SALES just because they spoke to the right pain with the right words.
That’s what happens when you write like a business, instead of a trusted solution to a problem.
And until you flip that switch, your marketing will stay quiet.
Let’s flip the switch now.
Fix the Message. Flip the Switch.
I’m not gonna tell you to "write better copy" or "do better marketing" or something vague.
Instead I want you to understand your client and their state of mind much better than they do.
Because when someone lands on your page, they don’t care how clever your headline is.
They’re thinking:
“I have a problem.
Is this the thing that finally solves it?”
That’s it.
If your message doesn’t answer that in the first 3 seconds?
It’s over…GONE…POOF…Like Kamala Harris’s relevancy after she lost.
So here’s what you need to do.
Let’s get to work. 3 steps.
Step 1: Stop. Start Listening.
If you’re not having real conversations with your past or current buyers,
you’re just writing fiction and fantasy novels (like Harry Potter).
What you should do right after reading this article is talk to at least 5 people who’ve bought from you.
Or even better…people who “almost” did but didn’t…Like EVERYTHING was okay…
maybe they almost signed the contract or hit the checkout page…but JUST DIDN’T BUY.
Ask them:
• “What made you reach out to us in the first place?”
• “What was going on in your life or business before that?”
• “What else did you try before us?”
• “What would’ve made you say yes faster?”
And most importantly:
“What were you REALLY trying to fix?”
Because it’s never just “we needed a website” or “we wanted branding.”
It’s:
• “I was losing leads because our site looked sketchy.”
• “I was embarrassed to share my site with clients.”
• “We looked like amateurs next to our competitors.”
That’s the gold. That’s the raw, unfiltered truth.
And that’s exactly what your messaging needs to reflect.
Step 2: Use Their Language. Not Yours.
You don’t need to sound smart. You need to sound like them.
If your buyer says,
“I was tired of chasing freelancers who ghosted me,”
Don’t rewrite it into:
“We provide reliable end-to-end delivery solutions.”
Keep it raw. Keep it real. Your messaging should sound like your prospect said it first.
Because when they read it and think, “That’s exactly how I feel”
you’ve already won.
Step 3: Make the First 3 Seconds Count
The top of your homepage. The first line in your ad. The subject line in your email.
Every single first impression should say:
“We understand what you’re dealing with. And here’s how we fix it.”
This is not the time for poetry. Not the time for clever metaphors.
Not the time for “elevate, empower, disrupt.” and 6 other deadly marketing sins (join our newsletter here and we'll send you more info about this)
It’s time for clarity.
Pure, honest, surgical clarity.
The businesses that win may not be the best, but they understand ONE thing.
They understand what their buyer wants to hear…
And they say it first, and get them early.
That’s it.
That’s the whole game.
Now that you know this, you can go all in on getting more leads and clients once and for all.
That’s exactly what we help you do inside our newsletter. EVERY DAY (most do it once a week, and that’s prolly some promotion)
